News From The Jericho Front ~ Jericho Airing in Saudi Arabia

From the CBS Jericho Boards by fan bestdmnshow

Hi everyone,

I just came across this post on the Addicted to Jericho Facebook page and thought it was interesting enough to share with everyone:

I just returned from a three month tour working in the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia. The entire month of May, MBC Action (seen in all middle eastern
countries) was running ads for a new action/drama "Jericho". Most of the
people on the vessel I was on had never seen the show. When it started
in June, the whole crew would sit around glued to the TV sets. When I
left to come home, the crew from Jericho had just captured the trucks
from New Bern. I hated to leave, because I always enjoy the show.

Pretty cool, huh?

:)

I am glad to have the opportunity to remind folks about the various Jericho sites that have been made beyond the boards and forums. Facebook , Myspace and other social networking sites have many Jericho places for us to join and as you can see that helps increase our coverage! So if your into Social Networking, you can start with Facebook.com. You will need to sign up for an account if you do not already have one, same thing for Myspace.com but its another great way to mingle with Jericho Fans from all over the world!

TVSquad.com Article ~ Ten unfinished sci fi/fantasy series

New Article at TVSquad.com by Jason Hughes:

Ten unfinished sci fi/fantasy series ... and I'm dying for resolution

Jericho is spot 8:

8) Jericho - The mini-season didn't work as well as I would have liked, but did bring to a close the first chapter of the Jericho saga. But it also set up the struggle between what could be the free government of the new US and the powers that be at Cheyenne. While it would be a struggle to maintain the down-home intimacy of the first season in the face of such a war, considering how well the first season was handled, I think it could have worked.

TV Squad Comic Con report - Matt Federman

How interesting it is to know that when the writer's for Jericho were dishing on who to have hook up with who on Jericho, that they actually read the blogs and online forums to get an idea of which way the wind was blowing.

* the following is from TV Squad - link here*

Another question posed to the panel was the influence of the Internet community on genre shows. Matthew Federman, writer on Jericho, said that they do have an influence when it comes to their favorite programs. Federman relayed a story about a reaction to a love triangle on the former CBS series. The writers wanted to go one way about the romantic storyline. Meanwhile, they were reading the blogs and show comments to get feedback from fans and getting the feeling that many were against the romantic storyline. Eventually, this led the writers to rethink the direction the love triangle should take.

The avid fan bases these shows have was brought up to the panel as well. With the case of the nut campaign to renew Jericho, Federman said that the writers felt they now had a mandate to satisfy the fans after the show was renewed. Gabrielle added that having a rabid fan base was cool. When she was writing for Farscape she didn't realize how big the fanbase was for the show because of her Australian filming location. When Moonlight gained its fanbase it was different because she experienced it as it was happening.
I love when I get to read how our online influence was instrumental to story lines, as well as saving the show.............twice.
I do feel bad for the Moonlight Fans ( of which I totally am one) to have to hear that the sets were struck. The Moonlight Fans have purchased ad space on 40 LA buses for their campaign, I hope some smart Net sees the Moonlight Fans are just as valuable as the Jericho Fans are and takes Moonlight on as a project.

Jericho4Kids Interviews Jazz Raycole ~ Allison Hawkins on Jericho

If you are a Jazz Raycole Fan ( Allison Hawkins on Jericho) then you must go to Jericho4kids.com and listen to the interview they did with Jazz.

Once again Miss Shelby ( of Jericho4kids.com) has outdone herself with this audio interview, and I was really interested to get to know more about Jazz. Jazz is an outstanding cast member on Jericho, and I can not wait to see more of her storyline unfold in a Season Three.

CBS Celebrates Free Sex, Drugs and the 70's - is this what YOU want on your TV?

I am so thankful to Carol Barbee for all she did with Jericho, and for the Jericho Fans. I have great admiration for her talent, as well as who is she is as a person, so I hope with all my heart that she will not be upset at me for this post I am about to make.
And to all those who practice this lifestyle, I am sorry but as this is my blog and due to this subject matter having been a direct result of my show being canceled, I feel I have the right to blog on this topic.
I do believe everyone has the right to live their lives as they see fit, just don't feel it gets to be crammed down folks throats. And since CBS is a public Network, and NOT cable this is infact being crammed down our throats.

Swingtown is unbelievable.

While it surely is not up to me to decide what consenting adults do in their spare time, I hate the fact that this show was allowed to be placed on the air. I understand from reading some threads at the Moonlight forum, that there were issues with some sponsors over the theme of Moonlight, part of the assumed reasons for canceling the show.

Okay.

And there have been more than one or two comments made in the last two years about Jericho being a not so great topic for a show , with terrorism, nukes, and the idea that someone who is an American would be able to do that to their own country.

Okay.

And on the Jericho forums so many times, posts have been deleted for "not acceptable content".

Okay.

But no, wait........... go take a gander at the Swingtown Forums!

Here is a small listing of threads you can find while trolling over there: Warning, these are heady to say the least.

Whats the best thing about the lifestyle?
Swingtown - opening the door for swingers
When Did passing Judgement become "Moral" - Celebrate Swingtown

and my personal fav so far:
Want to swing, HELP * OMG*

CBS, you really stepped on it this time. You have taken great shows and dropped them for no good reason. Oh yes, I know.... you're not happy with the 6+ milion viewers, I have heard that song before so please don't sing it to me again. You have demoralized a couple of million viewers who got attached to great shows ( a nice game you played there) and then you took away.

And you replace Moonlight and Jericho with this subject matter?????

And your sponsors are okay with this subject matter????

I guess Plato was correct after all......... Democracy is a doomed experiment because those whose voices are the loudest will take the prize. So now CBS is showing us how Swinging, free sex ( which as some one on the ST forums pointed out, we just got our kids away from!) and drugs are cool.

I am confused, is free sex with anyone who is not your spouse, and taking drugs at parties now a good thing to do? Do I now tell my three teenage daughters that basically they are good to go for this kind of behavior? ( not to worry folks, my girls have a brain and think this stuff is just so beneath them)

Listen, I am not a prude. I try to respect others rights but when its crammed down my throat and has ruined my viewing pleasure I am not going to take this laying down. If you want to swing, great... go to it. Don't tell me I have to watch it on PrimeTime TV.

Move this to Cable CBS, where you KNOW it belongs!

I plan on watching the ST forums closely because as it stands now, posts there contain links to pornographic materials, nude photos etc and even though they are being reported, they are NOT being taken down! See this thread for posts commenting on this occurrence on the Moonlight boards.

So CBS...... are you now as it was termed in one post, a PIMP? Because honestly, you just slipped down to a new all time LOW.
If you think I am overreacting, check this lovely thread out, the title is SLS:

one post states - any SLS members here? :-) *and beware this thread on page 8 is blatant porn references!!!*
a reply - we are :-)dn4play ( oh lord in heaven, this is almost comical)
almost a step by step for how to Swing.

I hope I rattled someones cage at CBS with this post, though I am not conceited enough to think anyone at the eye gives a rats ass what I think.

This show is proof positive of that fact.

Jericho4Sale Billboard Goes Up on Ventura Blvd

* I am sorry to have been gone for a few, RL issues that needed tending to*

I have to admit, when this campaign began I was not sure it was the right way to go. That amount of money could have been supported some awesome charities in the Jericho Fans name.
However, after reading the iF Magazing Article this afternoon, and then watching the YouTube video of the Billboard going up on Studio City Mobile Station on Ventura Blvd I am very impressed. It actually brought a few tears to my eyes, as I was brought back to the same feelings I had last year when we all were working our asses off to save Jericho the first time.
AlasJericho you did good! And since I now know a bit about how to coordinate these types efforts, PMary you had your work cut out for you and did an amazing job as well.

And all the fans who did their part, how proud you all must feel right now! Can you imagine impact the sign is having? I am so excited to know that there will be millions of people passing this sign and wondering what it is about Jericho that inspired this effort!

I bet CBS Paramount is damned proud as well, as this speaks so highly of the show.
Here is the video of the sign going up, check it out and then head over to Jericho4Sale.com for more info if you want to help out with this campaign.

Jeff Knoll and Fans Reach Goal ~ Variety Ad Complete

Edit - Thanks to Gwen over at JKI, for the correction to this information, this is a Campaign soley run by Jeff Knoll not by JKI.

The Sell Jericho Ad Campaign a Success!
From BringJerichoBack.com:

Jericho Needs to be Saved
and it's FOR SALE!

If you have arrived here it is likely you have seen one of our full-page paid advertisements in the Friday, April 25th, 2008 edition of Daily Variety or their electronic newsletter, or perhaps in the Monday, April 28th edition of The Hollywood Reporter!

We, the fans of the television series “Jericho," are loyal to the point of spending over $11,000 of our own money to make our point to the television industry and particularly to the principals of television networks considering purchasing this program."Jericho" has sparked not one, but two massive fan campaigns to restore our beloved television show. We want potential buyers to know that over six millions fans are prepared to bring eyes to screens for your advertisers. It is a good business decision. "Jericho" can be the anchor to your prime time line-up for years to come.

So, as of yesterday the advertisements were a complete success, and according to Jeff Knoll ran in Variety today, and will be in the Hollywood Reporter on Monday. He also posted ( see link here) his electronic version of Variety he gets so you can check it out there as well as buy a hard copy.

While I did not agree with spending that amount of money on an advertisement when the money would have been better served and would have made (in my opinion) a much bigger splash if it had been spent on humanitarian efforts in Jericho's name ( such as what the Moonlight Fans are doing with the Blood Drives), I am very much in awe of how fast the Jericho Fans moved to get this effort completed. And in the end, any campaign that brings Jericho and its fans to light in such a way is a good campaign.

As usual, the Fans moved their fannies to the tune and got the job done. Seems we have the most well oiled machine in history.

The artwork for this advertisement was done by Jericho Fan DangRabbit who if memory serves was a huge contributor to the first campaign as well.
So, congratulations Jericho Fans on yet another wonderful campaign. CBS really should have considered the immense fan base that is so full of awesome talent as a valuable commodity, instead of throwing us away so easily.

Seems another net will be gaining this inspiring group of fans instead.

TV By The Numbers writes on Fan Campaign- Press Release

From TV By The Numbers ~

JERICHO FANS WORK TO BE PART OF HISTORY….AGAIN!

March 30th, 2008 by Robert Seidman

I know I said I would never write about Jericho again, but this isn’t my writing so it doesn’t count. This comes to us from Amber who is in support of JerichoNet2.com’s efforts to revive the show. But as long as I’m here… I recently played around with the new service at FriendFeed.com. FriendFeed is sort of an aggregator for all the social networking services available.

One interesting thing resulted. Although I have only ”friended” a few people and only eight people have friended me, two out of the eight watched Jericho. Including me, that makes three out of nine. Since it’s completely random — the people who friended me don’t live in my neighborhood, and the two people who claim Jericho, I’ve never met either of them face-to-face, although one of them I’ve “known” for years. I did pause to think, “what are the odds that three out of nine people (including me) watched Jericho, and Nielsen isn’t at least a little screwed up?” I’m still pondering. Here’s the press release:

Dear Mr. Seidman,

Thank you for your support and writing about the Fan based effort, and also for printing the Press Release. It is appreciated very much by this blogger.
For those wishing to know more or to obtain a copy of this Press Release, please go to JerichoNet2.com at this link ~

Jericho Fan HolyHobbits gives us an emotional Tribute Video~ Bonnie Richmond ~ Jericho

I was given this video today to watch, but I have been waiting on this for a while. The person who made this video is a talented Jericho fan, and I am very happy to say a good friend as well. Thank you HolyHobbits for letting me place the video here.

This video is about one of our favorite characters on Jericho - Bonnie Richmond, played by Shoshannah Stern. Shoshannah is a wonderfully talented actress who in her portrayal of Bonnie reached into our hearts and helpedto make Jericho feel like home.

Bonnie was so much more than the sister of Stanley. Bonnie was a color of the Prism that made up Jericho, and the show will be different without her presence. I have been writing a lot lately about growth and change and how I am not the biggest fan of change. I will miss Bonnie, as will every fan of the show but I am so grateful that Shoshannah was a part of this wild ride... would not have been the same without her.

Watch Big Brother on Tuesday, 2/26/08 and get a clue to upcoming episode of Jericho

From an email forwarded to me by some Jericho Rangers ~

FYI - Tune-in to Big Brother tomorrow night at 9:00 PM, ET/PT for a special Jericho-themed BIG BROTHER “Power of Veto” competition. Thanks everyone.

"Big Brother" Houseguests to Receive Information From the Outside World

Contestants from CBS's BIG BROTHER will face-off in a JERICHO-themed "Power of Veto" competition on Tuesday, Feb. 26 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Loss of communication with the outside world is an issue facing both contestants inside the BIG BROTHER house and the citizens of the CBS drama JERICHO. During the broadcast's veto competition called "Communication Breakdown," BIG BROTHER Houseguests will put their communication skills to the test for the chance to gain information from the outside world.

As they battle for the "Power of Veto" on Tuesday, BIG BROTHER couples will search through thousands of pounds of peanuts in order to find their hidden color-coded cables and restore communication by correctly connecting the cables along their utility poles. The first couple to get all of their cables arranged and connected the right way will win the "Power of Veto," giving them the ability to remove a couple, or themselves, from the chopping block.

After the winning couple is declared, all of the Houseguests will get to view headlines that will be shown to them on a ticker tape style machine. The message will contain tidbits of news from the outside world, including a mystery headline that gives a clue to the upcoming JERICHO episode.

Photos now available at http://www.cbspressexpress.com/

Official CBS Web site: http://www.cbs.com/primetime/big_brother_9/

Love that peanuts are being used :-) This should be a ton of fun

Now that Viva Laughlin is gone, when will Jericho Rise?

I was going to post about Michael Hinman's post over at SyFy Portal on how Viva Laughlin maybe getting the ax and if so, what might go in its place, but after reading his update, we find Viva Laughlin in in fact cancelled by CBS.
Good.... horrid premise for a show ( okay, interjecting some personal opinions here)

But also good is that fact that Jericho is NOT going in its place.

I say good because as Michael points out, we need time to promote this show!

You can read more of his post here:

Jericho Rangers give Troop Support a New Home - Jericho Rangers For Our Troops

Before May 15th of this year if someone had told me that I would be a part of an amazing movement to save a television show, I would have said they were, well... NUTS!
But we were, and we were successful. We saved Jericho from certain death, we cheated the Nielsen Gods of their sacrificial offerings. We were awesome in our resolve to never give up. We made many friends, connections that will never be broken by distance or time. And we learned something about the power of collective efforts for a common cause.

Now, the fans of Jericho have once again decided to put forth the same kind of energy and dedication for a new and most important cause, the American Servicemen and Women. This cause is important to me, not only because two of my sons serve but for every serviceman and women now and in the past who gave of themselves for us!!!

It is with great pride that I introduce to you now a website dedicated to the troops. It is built with the same love that made our Jericho Campaign so succe
ssful:

Jericho taught us how as a community, no matter how hard times may get, no matter what obstacle we may face; if we stick together and hold each other up we will be victorious.

Jericho Rangers For Our Troops

The introduction on the main page of the website says it far better than I ever can ~

Jericho Rangers for Our Troops

This site has been brought together by the unified fans of the CBS television show Jericho. We rallied in May 2007 and forced CBS to rethink their decision to cancel a show that inspired many. We were called the largest internet movement to save a television show. During this struggle, many people laughed at our determination. Several of the Jericho Rangers stood firm, believing that the fight for a television show was only the beginning. We believed that this fight showed each of us we were able to come together to fight for a common good.

We have now turned that determination to our support of the troops that fight for our safety and freedom every day. This website is not about the politics of war. This site is to show our support to the men and women who answered the call of their country.

At the site you will find all the main causes attached to the Troops such as Staten Island Project Homefront, DVDs for Our Troops, Wounded Warrior, Hire A Hero * another personal fav of mine* and Celebrate Our Troops.

So Jericho Rangers, drop by and give this website a look, I am sure you will be glad you did!

And Thank you CBS and Junction Entertainment for giving us Jericho, the catalyst for our efforts!

Wow, wish I was going to be in San Diego July 29th , oh well. For those of you lucky souls who will be, Jericho will be at Comic-Con, and according to this link from ENI News, there will be footage from Season 2 that has never been seen before,a panel discussion and an autograph signing by the cast.

If you do go, please let us know how it was!

15 May 2007

and now TV Guide also stating show gone...

TV Guide also reporting that they have "sources" saying CBS has not picked up a season 2 for Jericho, I will wait until tomorrow to be putting my thoughts here. I want to hear from CBS before I open my mouth. It is being stated over at the official wiki and members forum that people should boycott CBS IF this is true.

MY views tomorrow.

Why We Fight - Episode 22

Well, this episode was the saddest of all. Poor Johnston.
So, we get into tonight's episode with flash backs of Eric and Aprils' wedding. Apparently, Eric had a tiny problem with Jake, and was not happy to have Jake as his best man. But their mom made Eric chose Jake, now at first I was unsure what this had to do with what is going on in Jericho. During this flashback, we see Jake, Emily and Jake's Granddad at the bar, during the wedding, and Jake's Grandfather is telling a story of a time in WWII when an American Unit was surrounded by the Germans, trying to hold this small piece of land until the American reinforcements arrives. The German leader radios to the American leader telling him that if he surrenders his men will be alive, that he was totally outnumbered and such. The American leader tells the German, NUTS; "go to hell".
So Johnston's plan was to use the tank, and Hawkins was at home using his Satellite to track the men from New Bern. This was not such a great plan though, it was the only plan that would work but it backfired on Hawkins. As Hawkins and Marcy are in the basement, using the satellite to track the New Bern men, someone ( three guess who) picks up on his use of the device and begins the process of locating him! Marcy proved she is a smart cookie, picking up on the fact that the uranium was the 'fingerprint' on the bomb, and that those people who Hawkins thought were after the witnesses attached to the bomb were really after getting the bomb to keep everyone from knowing who started this whole war. Just before Hawkins has to shut the laptop down, he sees a train coming at Jericho, loaded with New Bern men! He knows he has to stop that train.
The towns people under Johnston's steady leadership all decide to only try to hold onto Stanley's farm, to keep from being spread too thin. And their backup is that tank they got when the 'fake' army people came into Jericho. They only had one mortar tho, so they had better make it count!
As the men from New Bern round the bend in the road at Stanley's farm, one of their gunners opens fire, and war has come to Jericho.
It looks pretty grim for a while, and Jake decides he needs to climb a nearby hill to try and take out the shooter in a truck. As he gets up the hill and into position, he sees a tank coming over the hill practically on top of him! Its Johnston and hes packing a loaded tank.
We watch as the fight begins to get intense until the New Bern guys see that tank, and when they realize what that is coming at them, they begin to fall back, but not far enough. The tank's mortar goes off and there is a nice explosion!
The people of Jericho are enjoying a small win, when Jake and Eric realize that their Dad is lieing on the ground, he has been shot.
Here is where we know for sure one thing at least, Johnston is not going to make it back home tonight. I was not particularly attached to his character, but I was actually sad during the death scene. It was really realistic as far as the emotions coming from Gerald McRaney. He is an excellent actor, and was a credit to the show.
Johnston does get to clear the air with Jake and Eric though, telling them both how much he loved them, and was proud of them. It was hard to watch, even knowing it was not real.
He passes before Gail could get there, and his last words were " tell your mom I love her".
Jake and Eric share a moment of pain , but the war is not letting them have even this moment in full. Jake and Emily share some moments as well, and she is actually able to be a comfort during this time to Jake. She tells Jake that his dad is there, watching over him and everyone from town during this fight. This seems to be good for him. We then see Gail brought into the house by Emily. Jake and Eric let her know they are there for her, and then every leaves the house. Gail walks to Johnston and leans down and hugs on him, kind of like what Mrs. Reagan did at Ronnie's funeral, and I can tell you it was as sad tonight as it was then. She will miss him, but will go on.
Jake then gets a call from Constantino, who tells Jake that he was told of Johnston's death, and that he was sorry. Jake thinks a moment, and then proceeds to tell Phil "NUTS", go to hell. The he says to Constantino, "about my dad, its you I am coming after".
Hawkins shows up on horseback and asks for the tank, Jake and Stanley tell him there is no more ammo for it, and he says he doesn't need it. He had better move fast to get that tank into position, to do what I think he is going to do. All he has to do is derail that train far enough away from Jericho to make it not advantageous to the New Bern men to try and make a go at Jericho.
In between the scenes with fighting and the flashbacks , we see that Heather in fact is not dead but rather found out what New Bern was about to do, and tried to run from New Bern to warn Jericho. She was in an accident, and left for dead. The Army ( whose, we see later) finds her lying by the wrecked car, and takes her to their Nebraska camp to be treated. When she comes to, and finds out where she is, she goes off to find the Captain and she asks for his help with the New Bern-Jericho war. At first he tells her he cant help in that matter. Later we see him talking to a few people on some television screens, and one person we see is old baldy himself. The evil person who is behind the whole war!
This man tells the Capt. that they had tracked a 'terrorist suspect' to within 200 miles of Jericho, and that the Capt. and his men need to go to Jericho, stop the war and then find this terrorist!
At the end of the show, we see Hawkins on the tank and over his head comes helicopters. The Army, is on its way, but its not the Army we know or trust. We go back to Heather, when she was thanking the Capt for going to help Jericho ( she has no idea what is going on) she looks over to the flag on the pole and its the flag with vertical stripes, a non military flag. She seems to know something is not right.

Is this ending a clear indication of a second season? I have not read any new news about this, I could have missed it, and will check in with the wiki after I post this tonight to see what folks know. What ever I find out, I will post. If you have info, story lines I missed or just some thoughts, please feel completely free to post away!
As for the countdown video and extras or previews, I don't think I will get those up until tomorrow, but i will sure try for getting it done tonight.
End was great, but very sad.

add on info - this link at an about.com site for which shows might be saved or cancelled - shows Jericho as a pretty good shoein for being picked up for second season, will post more as soon as I hear more.

Episode 21 - Coalition of the Willing

I have been dealing with some internet issues that hopefully have resolved themselves, and so I return with my posting by talking about this weeks episode Coalition of the Willing.
First, I would like to say that I have not had any news of whether or not the return next fall of Jericho is official yet,

Now, on to what we saw this week ~
We see that Jake, Johnston and Hawkins have returned from the New Bern fight, and report what they saw and did to Gray. Next we see Stanley , Jimmy and a few others standing in the night, guarding the towns border, and a lone person walks toward them. Stanly calls out to him, asking who it is. Stanley then brings this person, a teen it looks like to Grays office in town, where he hands a walkie-talkie radio to Gray. On the other end is none other than Constantin, and he has demands! He wants Jericho to forfeit 7 farms, one of which is Stanley's Farm as well as 1/2 the salt mine; if this is not done good old Phil says New Bern is invading Jericho!
Meanwhile, Eric is at the Medical Center, and he is looking into the same room where April and their child died, and as he does he has a flash back ( I prefer to call it feeling guilty), then his mom shows up and takes him to be cared for and that ends.
Meanwhile , Gray is meeting with the towns people, and outside the office Dale makes arrangements with a local woman farmer, who says she is giving up on her farm because it is so far outside of town that Gray and the men can not defend it. Dale tells her he will defend it, she tells him if he can defend it he can have it! Dale then makes a deal with the refuges to help him defend that farm, he will then give them a stake in it. This means they now will have a place of their own, making them truly part of Jericho, as Dale puts it; they now will have a future.
Mary comes to the medical center and see Eric and they have a love filled reunion while Eric's mom looks on, and she finally sees that this is making them both happy so she is happy.
With the four hours up, Gray has a decision to make. Outside in the hall, Jake meets up with Emily, and as he is trying to break it to her that Heather is dead, the first round of mortars falls on Jericho! Jake rushes outside to find many hurt in the street, including his Mom. As he rushes to her , more mortars fall, and Jake tries to protect his mom.
Johnston rushes outside to help Jake with his wife, the devastation is huge. Gray tells everyone to get into shelters, when Constantine comes on the radio and gives him one more hour to comply. He also tells Gray that he will shell the town day and night for as long as it takes. Hawkins meets Marcy and tells her they should go to a safe house in Montana, but she tells him she wants to go home.
Meanwhile, Stanley radios that he has found the mortar site, that it is on a flat bed truck, and Gray tells him and his men to try to take the site. Jake and the others try to stop him from giving the order.
They wait and wait, until another mortar falls.
Later, Stanley and what is left of his men come back into town and tell Gray and Jake that the others are all dead, that they had met with a ton of planned resistance. Jake then tries to chock the life out of Gray, and frankly I don't blame him. This is where it becomes apparent to Gray that he is in way over his head.
Johnston tells Jake to do recon and Emily says she is going as well. They ride out on horseback, and as they are talking Eric rides up, say that Stanley spotted a truck coming. Jake ends up trying to get into the cab of the truck, but there is a surprise coming. Its Jonah and his men, and after some deal making with Emily, ( 50 percent of the take from New Bern's mortar site) they all go back into town.
Johnston has asked Dale for men to help fight, but little Dale wants to make deals for more farms! Johnston tells him this is about more than land, and that Dale already has half of a slat mine and some farms, that he needs to do it for Johnston.
All the men meet in the bar, and discuss what to do next, and in comes Jake, Emily, Hawkins and Jonah. Johnston ends up making a deal with Jonah for his help. They decide to go take the mortar site themselves, and Johnston tells Eric and Jimmy to go to Gray and stop him from making the deal to give away the farms to Constantino. Its barely a success, with alot of arguing by Gray, he is now losing it big time.; but they make it and convince him to use his business savvy to keep Constantino on the ropes.
Then we see Johnston in a truck driven by a New Bern man, and they are heading to the mortar site. Johnston has a gun on the driver, who tells him he remembers him from a race one year in New Bern.
Inside the truck is Jake, Hawkins, and others. They plan to get the drop on the New Bern men when they come to the back to open the truck. As they arrive at the mortar site, the driver tells the check in man that there is a barbecue venison in the back for them. Almost all the men who are guarding the site come to the back of the truck save a few. As soon as the open the truck Jake and Hawkins get the drop on them, and get them disarmed and in the truck, just at the driver gets away from Johnston, and screams "they're here!". This brings the other guards and there is a gun battle , that looks to be lost until over the hill come Jonah and his men. The battle ends quickly, and as Jonahs men are picking up the guns and searching the bodies for whatever they can take, Jonah comes upon the driver, he is hurt but alive. Jonah looks down at him, and then as Johnston screams NO!, he shoots him. Emily sees this, and is in shock ( this is strange seeing how there has been a nuclear war, and other things happen)
As Jonah and the others pack up the supplies they took from the mortar site, Jonah tells them he has changed the plans to split it 50-50, that he is taking all the guns and fuel and supplies. He tells Emily that she needs to stay away from him, she is a teacher and he is a thief.
Jake wants to stop him, but Hawkins tells him that he has guns, and later we see Hawkins and Jake at Hawkins storage building; where the entire unit is filled with guns of all kinds, enough for almost the entire town to at least have one gun each to protect themselves.
The meeting between Gray and Constantino ends with Phil calling him and telling him that he blew it and that this means war, as Johnston looks on; Gray breaks down and asks him for his help. They shake hands and Johnston takes over leadership once again.
Later in the town square, all the towns people are gathered. Johnston tells them basically that like it or not, war has come upon them, and they should pray for each other, and for those people of New Bern. He tells them this is more than a fight for their lives, its a fight for their very existence.
Then Jake tells everyone that is able bodied and over 16 to get in line for a gun. They begin handing the guns out, as Dale and his men, Marcy, Emily, and Hawkins daughter among others get their weapons. It is time to fight! While this is going on, Stanley and some men, all in dark clothes are heading over a hill, looking down on the city of lights, New Bern.

Episode 18 ~ A.K.A

View Jericho Episode 18: A.K.A. on innertube now

I watched both the sneak preview of tonight's show and the countdown video, for episode 17.
I did not get much from the countdown episode, unless this discussion about hostages went along with Rogers little party he had. Or, does it mean we may see Hawkins taking Jake and Jimmy hostage? I really don't see how that could be it, as then he would be announcing to the whole world (ie: "Sara's" buddies, who want that chip) that he is in Jericho and has the chip and bomb.

As for the sneak preview- now that was much better!
We see Jimmy (poor Jimmy, he is trying so hard to do what is right here) and Jake entering into Hawkin's' house. Jake is smart to ask about the legalities of that move, but Jimmy tells him its probable cause. ( Here we can see a bit of breakdown on the law, if I am correct. Probable cause in our time, pre- bombs, means a bit of a chain of command to go through, not just on a whim, unless someone is presumed in imminent danger) As Jake is about to come into the house, he looks down and noticed a paper clip that Hawkins had stuffed into the door hinge area near the frame of the door, so he would know if someone had come in to his house.
Jimmy takes Jake downstairs to the 'room' where Hawkins has the maps and does all his anti 007 stuff. You see , I am still convinced that Hawkins is BAD, period.
I take from this scene that Jimmy had already been down there, since he shows Jake the drawer in the desk where Hawkins keeps all his fake ID's. Then we see the scene of Hawkins coming home, entering the house he looks for his paper clip, and sees that it is where it is suppose to be, meaning all is well.... or is it?
As Hawkins goes downstairs, we can tell his spidy senses are tingling, because he hesitates. As he does, reaching for his gun, Jake comes out of the shadows, holding his gun. He tells Hawkins to stop reaching for the gun, and then asks him , "who are you?" and end of sneak preview!

Add on -

So, right off we are treated to seeing Jake and Hawkins having a moment, where Jake is the warrior for the town, the protector. All well and good, but then we also see Jake felled in one weak moment by the handcuffed Hawkins. I was bothered by the fact that a few hours before this, Jimmy was hell bent on proving that Hawkins was a bad guy, with fake ID badges from the FBI; then we see him turn just because Jake tells him that Hawkins is really FBI.
At least we get to see the whole back story on Hawkins. I knew right off that the bald man with the cane was bad, and we see that when Sara was cozying up to Bald Man. Why Hawkins was not one bit suspicious is beyond me.
Anyway, with this explanation at least we understand what happened, we now see that the CIA is behind everything that has transpired. ( Least that is my take on it.) I like that Emily is trying to get the kids back into some kind of routine, its long since past the time when that should have happened. I did not like that all of a sudden Johnston is having some kind of crisis and leaving his wife out in the cold. Before this show we saw that no matter what was happening, those two were close. And I still hate that they killed April instead of Eric, but that is just me being mean.
I absolutely loved Mimi tonight, she was insanely funny and I think she is bar none the best character and actor on the show. When she was asking that chicken to oblige her and not run around the yard when its head was cut off was priceless! If the show does make it to season 2 - she had better have a stronger presence in the show. I missed Stanley.
What was that I saw at the end of the show, in the preview? Were those 'bombs' I saw in the tradepost town?
More later, after I watch the new countdown video and sneak peek!
