Okay, I like Amy Poehler, I really really do. What I do not like about this show is its SO much like the Office it is icky. Parks and Recreation is not on my list of to watch shows. I hope someone finally gets Amy something she really fits in. I did not expect to like her in Baby Momma , but she was good.
I have waited and waited , as patiently as possible for this show to start. I am still trying to figure out the website for it, having log in issues but that is a small matter. I hope that the fans are as rabid about this show as they were for Jericho because this is the first truly original show to be done since, well... Jericho! Oh and Lost.
The premise of Harper's Island is the folks who show for the wedding on Harper's Island are amongst a killer, a very determined Killer. Who it is, we wont know for some time I am sure and even the cast does not know, they dont even know week from week who will be the next victim!
Have you guys been doing the Pick the Victim game on the website at CBS? If your right, you can win a cool $1000! And don't forget to sign in at the Fan Forums at CBS, where you can interact with everyone and do some guessing about who it is. There are already some really interesting talks going on, that is fan interaction at its best. If you have not heard of Harper's Island, just click the graphic above to go right to the website!
First of all I want to introduce all the readers who have not yet found this, to Harpers Globe, a viral website meant to really showcase and bring in the viewer to the world of Harper's Island. Harpers Globe is an online community first of all, and a showcase as well with videos to watch along with News Archives and a page about the Island itself. I actually think that starting with the News Archives will fill me in more than the trailers for the moment. I have some serious catching up to do since this site went up on March 18th.
The show will begin airing Thursday nights at 10:00 PM ET/PT, starting April 9, 2009. Not my favorite night for a new show to be placed but I read here that CBS has stated this show to be a 'one off' show. At least they are being honest with the viewership now, but I wonder if this will affect how people watch the show. If your really falling in love with it, knowing it wont be more than a season makes the show little more than a very long special movie event.
Here is the official FAQ for Harpers Globe ~
What is Harper’s Globe?
Harper’s Globe is a social show
Harper’s Globe is an online show and a social network where you can watch and participate in an exciting story and fully immerse yourself in the mystery event, Harper’s Island. The story of Harper’s Globe unfolds on Harper’s Island and the information you learn here will give you a deeper understanding of the events occurring on the island. Together with the characters and other members of the community, you’ll watch the mystery unfold through videos, photos, and blogs posted by characters on their profile pages. You can simply lean back and watch the weekly episodes, or you can participate in the story by communicating with the characters and solving the mysteries of Harper’s Globe. Sign up and dive into the mystery (don’t worry, it’s easy and free).
You can join the community right from the main page, as I did. I am there as kystorms :-) which was my Jericho, Moonlight and now Harpers Island ID and here is the link for the Wiki that goes with Harpers Globe/ Harpers Island. I like that you get to watch a new episode each week just like we can on TV, and each new show will play on the main page for Harpers Globe. You can interact with the characters who will be blogging on the site each week as well, and from what we see at CBS.com/HarpersIsland, even the cast has no clue from week to week who the killer is or who will get bumped off!
The Secrecy Behind Harper's Island Episode 1
Clip (2:43)
Over at CBS we find even more fan fun to participate in, you can now win some cash by playing the Pick The Victim Game. I will be playing along, hope I see some familiar faces there soon. With all this online information to be a part of for Harper's Island, it will be hard to place both Jericho and Harper's Island posts here each week. I am not dumping Jericho info, but will keep it on the back burner unless stupendous new info comes out about the show and or movie.
So we are about to set out into uncharted territory, that of a gory murder mystery such as one would find on the big screen ; now residing every Thursday evening on CBS. Can't wait!
Hint at tonight's episode ( from Biggest Loser Forums.) We watch as contestants struggle to maintain their focus and hard work while competing back home for a full week. Complicating the joys and temptations of home, the physical challenge is a half-marathon, 13.1 miles, no small feat. The runner with the best time receives $10,000 cash!
But, first, a strategic temptation: each contestant is given a box of 13 cookies, one cookie for each mile they'll run. For each cookie they eat, they can add an extra five minutes to an opponent's half-marathon time. Who's willing to eat the extra calories just to sabotage someone else? (Also: watch and see whose at-home mates get into the spirit and run along for the entire 13 miles!)
When they get back to the ranch, it's one last-chance workout and then mounting the scale. Five players are painfully close to reaching the 100-pounds-lost target. Who will hit the bullseye? Who will turn around and go right back home again?
CONTESTANTS GO HOME FOR A WEEK AND COMPLETE HALF-MARATHONS
All of the contestants head home for a week, where they are faced with the challenge of continuing to make healthy food choices and getting their workouts done in their home environments. After they arrive home, each player gets a DVD with host Allison Sweeney revealing their “at home challenge” – to run a half marathon – 13.1 miles!
A cookie temptation adds an interesting twist to the competition, and the players find out the results of their hard work once they return to the ranch.
