Beyer, who is 34, noted that a lot of the stories this season borrow from current events and challenge the audience. "That's what's great about our show," Beyer said. "It makes you think about other things. It's not another procedural. These are three-dimensional characters that are different. It's not just a soap opera. It's a lot of different things."
