I know I have said this before, I am the Mother of sons who serve, and each time I see any messages like these I know in my heart that one day things will be right. My boys will be home, all of our family members will be home. And I know that these men and women who serve know we love them and keep them in our prayers.

To my sons , I miss you, I love you and I hope you will come home soon.

Today is the release day of Jericho Season 2 DVDs and marks a very important milestone in the ongoing DVDs for the Troops drive. I say ongoing because even though this leg of the campaign drive is over, the effort to provide quality entertainment for the troops continues.



It is very difficult to convey the overwhelming humbleness for the show of support that everyone has shown in this effort. MM had a very emotional conversation today with Debbie from SIPH when she called to alert them of the shipment of DVDs heading their way. Debbie became so emotional; she found it difficult to express her appreciation and gratitude to all of you.



We are extremely proud to announce that through a coordinated effort between Amazon.com and SIPH, we were able to save $300 on the sales tax and shipping. This enabled us to purchase an additional 15 DVDs for the troops. Ok, are ya’ll ready for the totals?



111 DVDs from cash and gift certificates

108 DVDs from direct purchases

219 DVDs TOTAL





Debbie from SIPH has ensured us that she will forward any pictures and emails she receives back from the troops. We will post those as they become available.



MM and I are also currently working on preparing the messages that were included with the gift cards and DVD purchases. We are printing the messages on the back of the DVDs for the Troops Campaign graphic that RP designed. These messages will be included in the shipment of DVDs from SIPH to the deployed troops.



If anyone would like to send a message to the troops, whether you donated or not, please email me or MM. We will gladly include and send your message for SIPH to send to the troops.



We are also compiling all the names of everyone who donated and coordinating with J4K for the wonderful prize drawing. More information on that will follow in the coming days.

Second Annual DVD's For The Troops Campaign Update

On behalf of JR4OT, The Staten Island Project Homefront and the Troops that will be able to share in our enjoyment of Jericho's Season 2.

If this effort helps our men and women serving let their minds leave where they are for even a short time, then we can all know we did a little something to improve their day and thank them for their sacrifices.

Here is a current update on where the Season 2 effort stands:

DVD's Purchased Outright: 55 DVD's

Ms. Oyer's Class at Boca Raton Middle School: 21 DVD's

Amazon Gift Card Donations: $788

Mike Loomer (CBS) (Jerichon Auction) Donation: $975

Jericho4Kids (Jerichon Raffle): $267

Total Available For Additional DVD Purchases: $2,030

(Approx. 100 DVD's + 76, Total 176 DVD's)

This is an ongoing effort and the plan is to not only continue it, but to expand on it. Talks are underway with over a dozen other fandoms who have expressed an interest to include their beloved shows on this continuing wish list. The results of this will be nothing short of amazing, all benefiting the troops with future plans to include Veterans as recipients.

HOWEVER, for now, we are working with both Amazon for a volume discount to maximize the donated dollars and with SIPH to utilize their non-profit, tax exempt status. The two successfully combined could amount to over 25 additional DVD's for the troops. For the purpose of negotiating these additional discounts, only the donations in house by 9 PM Eastern on Monday, June 16th will help give us this bargaining power.

The DVD's will be shipped to the troops with the notes you've submitted. It has been noted more than a few times that the notes alone add a smile to their day, so please feel free to send a note even if you are not donating. Ultimately, we would love to see a note on each DVD shipped from Jericho fans.

Also, if you have a family member, friend or even neighbor serving that you would like to see be a recipient of one of the DVD's please contact us, this can be so easily be arranged.

This is so wonderful, and to think that other fandoms are talking about hooking up with this idea is amazing. I am no longer surprised at the wonderful ways the Jericho Fans pull together to get something done. I truly believe they can do just about anything they put their minds to and I can't wait to hear what is up next for the Fans!

Boca Middle School Students Show Real Community Spirit

I am so very proud to be able to blog this story because it shows how Jericho is truly an inspiration to us all, and the children of Ms. Oyer's class are an inspiration to me.

Continuing the civics lessons at Boca Middle

The students in Ms. Oyer's social studies classes at Boca Raton Middle School continue to show that they have learned the true meaning of civic involvement. As you may recall, Ms. Oyer's classes actively participated in the effort to fight the cancellation of the television show "Jericho" by writing protest letters to CBS and bringing in spare change to help purchase advertisements in Variety.

Not content with stopping there, Ms. Oyer and the students learned of a program where DVD's of "Jericho" are sent to troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Staten Island Program For Our Homefront purchased and shipped 100 DVD's of "Jericho" season one last year. Ms. Oyer's students raised $440.27 which will buy 20 DVD's of "Jericho" season two for the soldiers and Ms. Oyer contributed to make it 21 DVDs. Currently, the program has raised enough to purchase 67 DVD's, making Ms. Oyer's classes a major contributor.

Jericho Fans, Miss Shelby and Loomer Make Huge Impact on DVD's For The Troops Campaign

At Jerichon 2008 in Oakley Kansas this weekend, Miss Shelby from Jericho4kids.com raised $267.00 from her raffle of Autographs and Loomer added to that another $975.00! This money goes to the DVD's for the Troops Campaign, more info on all the particulars soon.

DVD for The Troops Campaign Update: Boca Raton Students Help Our Troops and Jericho

Update for DVD For Our Troops Campaign:

I have been told that an additional 21 DVD's have been purchased bringing the totals to 68 DVD's and $445.00 in gift cards from Amazon! The 21 were purchased by Ms. Oyer’s sixth and seventh grade social studies classes at Boca Raton Middle School, Boca Raton Florida.

Way to go Students! The troops thank you, and I thank you. My son ( US NAVY) and all the servicemen and women are so blessed to have such wonderful kids working so hard for them! And a big thank you to Ms. Oyer for being such a wonderful teacher.
