I do ask personally that if at the end of the post you feel the move in your heart to help that it will be so wonderful!

With things firing up on a few Jericho fronts, there is a lot to celebrate. Our ad, thanks to the work of Redsox, Nightshade, Welcome2Cho, Norsu, K6 (and probably others I’m forgetting) will be airing nationally on Universal HD. All of the credit goes to the people mentioned in the last line as I had a much smaller role in making it happen than they did. Also, as has been posted, Jericho will be returning to the air soon for a sequential 29 week run on the CW.
Our Jericho family is doing well too. I’ve recently heard from a several of the producers and writers, and they’re both excited and maybe even a bit surprised themselves at the CW announcement. Federman and Scaia are busy on a new show called Warehouse 13, Carol is working on a couple of pilots, Jon is as busy as can be with two pilots and other exciting stuff in the works, and Dan and Karim are working feverishly on Harpers’ Island. They are aware of what we’re doing and as Carol put it last week in an email “you guys are so awesome”. Carol and Jon even took time out to share a recipe for the forthcoming fan created Jericho Cookbook.
I’m amazed at the generosity of Jericho fans. From peanut butter for food banks in Kansas, to DVDs for troops, to helping others in the fandom in times of financial and other needs, I’m just blown away. I know that our efforts are largely focused on things related to Jericho, but I wanted to take just a moment and ask you for a little help with something that is near and dear to me and my family right now.
For many of us the holiday season presents an opportunity to go home and catch up with family and friends. It’s also a time when we look to those facing challenges and hardships in hopes of helping ease the burdens they face during this special time of year.
Heavy on my heart this year is an old friend friend from childhood named Matt McNeil. I recently learned of an incredibly heartbreaking story playing out in his life. Matt, and his wife Shannon, have two amazing kids (Waverly and Oliver), who earlier this year were both diagnosed with a terminal disease called MPS III/Sanfilippo Syndrome.
Children with Sanfilippo often go undiagnosed until after age 1. Between ages 2 and 6, their learning ability declines, and as time goes on, they begin to regress and loose everything they’ve learned. With no treatment available, most children only live into their teens, and many don’t survive childhood. The McNeils face daily challenges I cannot even imagine. Every day the disease progresses further and as Shannon wrote recently on her blog, they feel the kids slipping through their fingers. I encourage you to read Shannon’s words, but be prepared for a cry along the way.
A fund has recently been started for the McNeils to help them purchase a home with all of the necessary alterations needed to keep the kids safe. If you have the means to do so, would you please consider offering a helping hand to Matt, Shannon and the kids? You can donate on their site, and if you felt so inclined, you could do it in honor of Jericho.
