Dollhouse Recap ~ Omega ( and TV ex's need ritalin)

Nice episode, answered some questions and made far more for this fan. So we now know who Alpha is, and some of what he was before he was made Alpha. He was a broken doll and broken even before he became a doll. He likes to cut and hurt and is now a doll who thinks he is a ascended being who happens to a few extra dollies living in his head. I wont ruin it for you if you have not watched yet but I will tell you I am really sad that this season is almost over.

The ratings for this episode were not great, we took 1.7/3 for the time slot against CBS's Flashpoint which had 5.5/10, NBC second with Dateline at  3.3/6. WHat no one gets is that the show was not on for a week. this is EXACTLY what killed Jericho.  We next see Dollhouse ~ Epitaph One on July 28th wtf? I see that Zap2it calls this episode the finale. Not the season finale either, again huh? I am thinking that FOX of all channels is calling it quits on Dollhouse and frankly that sucks. Let me be five for a second, its NOT FAIR.
You give chance upon chance to shows that should never have seen the light of day, and then becuase of ratings YET again, we seea  well written and UNIQUE show get the boot. Now, I am unable to find any noise that FOX has infact canceled and it may be some time before we do here but learn a lesson from the Jericho fans, we did not move fast enough BEFORE cancelation, lets get our asses in gear now and let FOX know in no uncertain terms that this show is our show and we want it on the air. And why are ratings even counted anymore? They serve no real purpose as was shown with Jericho and countless other great shows canceled. Once again money is the issue, period. Money can not buy great art, it purchases time for some suit to run around thinking he knows what we want. Do I sound pissed off? I am.  Netword upfronts are a week from today and Dollhouse is officially on the bubble and from what Tim Goodman states in his post at SFGate today, Fox is looking at seven comedies and five drama pilots, and the final move will be for Fox to decide whether to keep Bones or Dollhouse, however he mentions that they will need a "good scifi match" for Dollhouse.
And to make this even better, the fans are revolting again, this time they will be mailing action figures to Kevin Rilley at Fox. Please go to this page at Save the Dollhouse.com for all the timely info.

Here is the main thread at the Fox Wetpaint forum for Dollhouse  and the Twitter page as well as the website Active Dollhouse which may begin to have info as well, have not had time to get to into that site as of yet.

Fox is taking a good look at the seven comedy and five drama pilots it has in development before making what looks to be the two most difficult decisions here - "Bones" and "Dollhouse." The first has been a steady if unspectacular performer and the latter was a disappointment that showed signs of life late in the run. The question for Fox is whether it can find a sci-fi styled match for "Dollhouse" or not. Everything else looks dead.

oak on a ridge at round valley

Dollhouse last night was exceptional and scary to me. Why? Well, I began thinking about some people whose lives seem to read like a novel of despair, with one thing after another happening and none of it good. Some times you will even find whole families suffering from what some call the generational curse.
When you can sit and write a time line of one bad event after another for a persons entire live that is exceptional odds, or someone is messing with your life.
Crazy I know, but still a thought to ponder at least.

Okay what was so great about last night? Well, the fact that they had me going until mid way through; thinking that Caroline and the others were really cognizant of who they really were and what was being done to them. That damn DeWitt, she is such a b***h, messing with peoples heads like she does and she enjoys it.
Topher, you dimwit you could be the saviour and give them all their memories back.
Poor Mellie, losing a child. Or did she? Were ALL the memories they each had in this episode fraudulent? Mellie out of all the Dolls seems so out of place, so not fitting. Going to keep an eye on her.

If I have to suffer one more comment from that misogynistic man of DeWitts, Mr. Dominic I will hurl something at my TV set ( I need a new one anyway) Can you tell I do not like him one bit? And its not that he hates Echo that gets under my skin, it is that he enjoys being a person of control and power over the dolls.
You would think in an organization such as this, doing what they do that Mental Evaluations would be priority one.

Wonder who the Spy is in the house? We will see next Friday.

I got to watch all of Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles last night and OMG was it good, but sad. What will they do with Sarah now? Back to the mental institution or worse? Now I have three shows I have to watch online from the beginning just to catch myself up, but its so much fun to do it! Next Friday is the Season Finale of Terminator so please put a reminder on your cable set, it will be good I am sure.

So wondering what it is about this photo that made me place it in the post today? I was sitting here wondering what it was in this picture that made me feel so sad, when it came to me... the Oak tree. There were some really beautiful Oak Trees up in the Trinity County area, one place in particular was a camp ground area in the area that my kids and husband and I stayed at for a few days, the air was perfect the days wonderfully filled with fun and love.

There are no Oaks here that even come close to the Oak in this picture or in my memories.

The crashing wave finally reaches peace as it breaks upon the land....
so our turbulent spirits find rest as we break upon the vast shoreline of God's love.

Dollhouse Recap - Man on the Street

Okay.... last nights episode totally fell in line with what I as a Whedon fan expected , twists ( did you know it would be Mellie as a sleeper doll? I did not see that coming :-) and awesome story lines. Now we get our meat and that is what I loved about all the other Whedon work.

I have to admit right now that I was hoping to see some strains of Faith in Echo, and that is not fair to Eliza but now I can say that I love Echo far more as a character. Echo is too multidimensional to fit into the Faith box. But I do see faint strains of Faith in Echo and that is only due to Echos deep strength and smarts.

I loved that DeWitt finally showed her true colors, because as I see it she is the insider. Someone had figured out how to wipe Echo in Gray Hour via that phone, well... last night DeWitt calls Mellie and sets her off. One and one are two.

I did not like DeWitt and see her as the Dr. Evil of the whole party, I could be wrong but I do adore Olivia Williams in that part, she is so deliciously evil. Glad to see Hearn get duped the way he did but that was easy to see coming.

Now.. lets discuss Mellie. Here she is each week waiting for Paul (Tahmoh Penikett) to wake up and see she is in love with him but each week he was too obsessed with finding Caroline by the way... nice 'grab' Mellie that is how you drop a bad man. I am guessing that DeWitt wont pull Mellie for some time because it seems she likes playing with Paul. And speaking of poor Paul, on suspension from the FBI won't stop him from his investigation but how long before he figures out Mellie is a doll?

Now what are the fans saying? Over at the fan forums on FOX the fans are alive with discussion threads. The fan forum at FOX is as alive with discussions and ideas as the Jericho Forums were which makes me feel right at home so I joined today. I hope to find the same fun there as with Jericho. I also liked that it is Wetpaint so I can use my same screen name as I did with Jericho.

Zap2it's Ryan McGee gave an awesome recap of last nights show:

And there, folks, was the first truly great episode of “Dollhouse.” No doubt about it. The kind of episode we’ve wanted all along, often in ways we couldn't’t have possibly predicted. More than anything, above the dense mythology, overt active abuse, and new revelations, the episode set to ask a very simple question: what if there was a Dollhouse in our own reality? Or rather, what if our own reality in fact created a Dollhouse?

He makes some solid points, and I will be reading his recaps each week to see how he does. Plus he is pretty funny.

There are so many plot twists and character twists that this show could go on for years and I am one happy Whedon and Dushku fan. Fridays matter again :-)

TV Tonight ~ Dollhouse - Man on the Street

March 20th 2009

Well tonight is episode 1.6 of Dollhouse, Man on the Street. I will post after the show but I did want to post a link to a great interview with Eliza Dushku done in Saturday Night Magazine. There are great fashion photos of Eliza as well.
This is a really interesting interview that gives great insider information on how the show came to be and what roles Eliza plays beyond Echo in the show itself.

Dollhouse ~ True Believer

Tonight's episode is True Believer .

ahhhhhhhhhhh! This was a very well thought out episode, and I knew it had to be Lawrence. He has had a thing for Echo since episode 2 I think. I am so freaking out over the next episode, what will happen????

It was funny for Topher to get all freaked out over Victors reaction to Sierra in the showers. Learned behaviors, ah such fun to research. I think that between Victor and Echo we are watching the wipes become less and less effective over time.

Did you see the look Echo gave at the end of the show?

Eliza Dushku rocks at this character, I am scared that I will get attached and have this show taken from me like Jericho was. Well, I am already attached so please keep this show going!

I had not thought about doing the ratings on the show, but after being burned by the ratings scam and CBS I think I will post ~

Take from Zap2It.com ~

March 14, 2009 -

CBS stayed on top at 9 with "Flashpoint," 5.9/10. "Supernanny" delivered a 3.3/6 for ABC. NBC's "Friday Night Lights," 2.7/5, just edged out FOX's "Dollhouse," 2.6/4. The CW retained most of its audience with a repeat of this week's "America's Next Top Model," 1.2/2.

February 28, 2009 -

CBS stayed on top at 9 with "Flashpoint," 5.9/10. "Supernanny" delivered a 3.7/6 for ABC. FOX's "Dollhouse" earned a 2.6/5, on par with last week and tying for third in the hour with NBC's "Friday Night Lights." The CW ended its night with more "Chris" and "The Game."

Feb 21 2009 -

At 9 p.m., a repeat of "Flashpoint," brought CBS down to a 5.1/9, but still kept the network in front. ABC stayed in second with 3.5/6 for "Supernanny," and FOX was in third with a 2.7/5 for "Dollhouse," pretty much keeping most of its audience from last week's premiere. NBC's "Friday Night Lights" wasn't far behind with a 2.5/4, and the finale of The CW's "13: Fear Is Real" too a paltry 0.6/1.

Feb14 2009 -

At 9 p.m., "Flashpoint," brought CBS down to a 5.7/10, but still handily won the hour. ABC held on to second place with "Supernanny," and FOX was solidly in third with the much-hyped premiere of the new Joss Whedon series "Dollhouse," 2.8/5. A new episode of "13: Fear Is Real" mustered a mere 0.6/1 for The CW.

God, if you you were to see these ratings on CBS for a show, gah. But I take heart that I have been told FOX really goes for well written shows. What do you think?

If Facebook is any indicator of popularity, Dollhouse has over 22,000 fans already and each one loves this show. Whedon has a solid following, we fans adore him, his ideas and well once you have been struck by the Buffy and Angel bug you never return to this sucky reality.

Dollhouse ~ Stage Fright

Okay, I am sure of it now, Echo knows what is going on with the mind altering business. The story line was good tonight, but it was the small things I was looking for the bits and pieces of what is behind this organisation Echo, Sierra and the others are working for.

As far as I can see, there is a reason for this place to exist but who started it, why? And who is behind bringing it down? And who was the male 'doll', did I miss something?

What makes it hard for me to write a review about the show is the lack of constant or connected storyline, so I hope I get one soon. I will have to begin really scouring the fan sites for more insight, the fans always know all!

And speaking of fans and fan participation ( I was speaking of fan participation, right?) the ARG * RPRimeLab.com * is sweet. I just found it today but have full plans of getting more into it this weekend, for now go check it out and play along yourself.

Really liking the official website for Dollhouse as well. Nice to have the recaps and full episodes at hand for watching again. I found with Jericho it helped to watch again to fill in the missing blanks.

Oh, and can Eliza sing or what? Damn the girl can do everything. But she needs some help redesigning her MySpace page, so if you are up to helping check this website out - MySpace.com/Dollhouseonfox.com
you will be able to watch the video explaining what to do and also get a toolkit and if your design is chosen you will win a trip to LA to meet Eliza and help her redo her MySpace page in person.

Dollhouse - Ghost * Ep.1 *

First impressions on Dollhouse ~

1. Is that the Wolfram and Heart offices redone ?????

Okay, I was hoping in my heart for the feeling of sameness ( I am a creature of habit and hate hate hate change) but the very nature of the story means that change will occur each episode.

I liked the change, and I really liked Eliza's character Echo. What is up with Amy Ackers character, Dr. Suanders? Her face is scarred so we will get that back story soon I am sure but is she also one of the oblivious ones who run this company or is she a good guy?

When we see Echo wandering the halls in a Thorazine like state its as the story is about to get deep with why Echo is even in this organization but the story moves into what ever character Echo plays too fast.

What I liked -

That we get to see a constantly evolving story line for Echo so it will never be predictable. Echo is not Faith, but surprisingly she is better than Faith is many ways and will be an awesome person to get to know better. Eliza did a great job at melding the tough with the sweet.

It is going to take me some time to get to know the other characters in the show but I see strains of Zander in Topher ( played by Fran Kranz ) I think his style will fit well into the story but I do hope his character will be able to grow more.

What I did not like so much ~

There might be too many characters to pay attention to all at once, which means not being able to spend quality time on the story line for the main characters, Echo and Tanaka ( played by Mark Sheppard).

Over all I will bet Dollhouse is a winner and that we will be seeing a refined story as the weeks go by. As with any new series we have to get to know the folks in the story, let them become familiar to us before we can really decide how we like the show.

And in case you missed or want to watch again you can see the first episode here below or check it out at Hulu.com here.

Ghost

Season 1 : Ep. 1|50:15||
Eliza Dushku stars as a member of an illegal group who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with new personas.

Tonight's the night - Joss Whedon's Dollhouse Debuts

Joss Whedon in my opinion can do no wrong, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel to Firefly ( tho I was a late comer to that show) he has consistently knocked them out of the park each time he places a show on TV. I expect that Dollhouse will be no different.

With a stellar cast consisting of Eliza Dushku who will play Echo 7 to Amy Acker who plays Dr. Claire Summers I am already in love with this show. The premise seems to good to be true for a person like myself who desires original well written TV. Jericho fit that bill to the tee and now maybe, just maybe I will get to love and keep a show!

I know FOX is much more likely to keep a show on and not really worry to much about ratings. They really seem to care what the fans want to see, and watch fan reactions closely before making hasty moves to cancel a show.

So this is one show I am really excited about and can not wait to blog on! May even make a separate blog just for it.
I will write my thoughts right after the show tonight.
