Last night I was finally able to catch most of the movie The Other Boleyn Girl, and it was a great movie. I am such a History buff, I even made my minor US History because I love Historical Research so much. I think that it why I love doing the Genealogical Research I do, because I get to find out what families are related to whom! I am , basically nosey :-)
The movie was based on the novel and stars Natalie Portman as Anne and Scarlette Johansson as Mary. Mary was in the movie the sister who represented the pliant and good sister who did what was necessary for the family and Anne was the sister who had a mind of her own. This headstrong behavior of course becomes her undoing.
While I am sure that much of the historical facts represented in the movie are shaded in fiction I feel overall that the movie was a real attention grabber. I had always felt bad for Anne, losing ones head for a man is going the extra mile after all, but after seeing her behavior I was surprised she lasted as long as she did with King Henry.
Here is the Trailer ~
My favorite Royal has always been Elizabeth I, she was a strong woman of good moral character who really did seem to have the best interests of her Kingdom and its people at heart. I love when I see the movies starring Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age on cable, one of these days I will have to get them both on DVD. Elizabeth was the daughter of Anne Boleyn. The entire British Monarchy is such a wonderful Romance Story start to finish.
If you like British Royal History, I highly recommend this movie. It was never dull and makes you see these people as full of life instead of one dimensional as when you simply read about them!
