It's cut week in the network television business, and "Jericho" didn't make the cut.
For those who don't know, and apparently there are many of you, "Jericho" is/was the show about survivors of a nuclear holocaust in the little Kansas town of Jericho. The writing was pretty cheesy, but the show was oddly addictive. In the season finale, Jericho's residents had begun what was sure to be a bloody defense of their town against invaders from nearby New Bern.
After committing hours of couch time to the series this past year, I'll never know how that battle comes out. There's a Web site working on a petition to CBS to bring "Jericho" back. It'll never happen.
There was a petition drive after "Invasion" -- a cheesy-but-addictive sci-fi serial that was axed mid-battle (sound familiar?) after its first season last year by ABC -- and, well, I've not seen another episode of "Invasion."
From now on, I'm going to be a little more picky about which serial shows I choose to watch.
"Remember the Jericho" will be my battle-cry.
