BuddyTV Jericho Post ~'Jericho' Set to be a Highlight of 2008

edit @ 3:00pm -

Michael Hinman of SyFy Portal reports the following concerning the Strike:

No Headway Made in Strike Talks

On Thursday, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers broke what was a media blackout to announce they had offered striking writers a new contract that included $130 million in additional compensation, bringing the amount writers received each year over $1.4 billion.

But just as the AMPTP was patting themselves on the backs, the WGA released a statement of their own, blasting the proposal and calling it a rollback that was unacceptable.

The studios were looking to provide a fixed payment of just under $250 for each hour-long program that appeared on the Internet to writers -- a steep decline to the $20,000 a writer earns when that program is rerun on a network. On top of that, the deal was specifically for television and didn't include streaming movies online.

Now, I am not looking forward to the strike lasting more than another week ( that is me being hopeful) but when one considers how it could be some time before the strike ends - this article at BuddyTv is spirit lifting -

November 30, 2007 Let's say the strike isn't settled by Christmas. Let's say it's not even settled by the time summer hits. What, then? What do fans of scripted content have to look forward to in 2008? The pickings will be slim, but there are going to be some glimmers of hope for scripted drama lovers. Fans of half hour comedy, I'm afraid, are out of luck. Unless The New Adventures of Old Christine does it for you (there are eight or so episodes set to air), there's not much out there. However, in the drama department there are a few rare series who will air their entire uninterrupted seasons in 2008. One of those is Jericho.
And of course, being the egotist I am, I love it whenever I get to see the Save Jericho Campaign and hard fighting Jericho Fans mentioned! And the post's author even calls the filming of the seven almost a blessing. He also mentions ( grin) how Jericho will be the only network show to finish an entire season, with Lost only having half a season to come back with in February.

Most inspiring, the author feels that CBS should take "this opportunity with the strike to re-air Jericho's first season and try to pick up new viewers as it readied for the second season", and I fully agree.

BuddyTv Article - Spare The Jericho, Spoil the Kid Nation

Spare The Jericho, Spoil the Kid Nation
This is a must read, and a spirit lifting article for all Jericho Fans.

Here is my favorite part:

The good news for Jericho in the 8pm Wednesday slot is the fact that it would be the straight shooting drama flanked by the weird new concept show, and the game show. If there is a sizable audience for Bionic Woman at 9, there is a sizable audience for Jericho at 8. Certainly bigger than Kid Nation's audience, and probably comprised of a more desirable demo.

So let's tick off the reasons CBS should dump Kid Nation and bring back Jericho now:

  • Pushing Daisies is not a threat because it isn't mainstream enough.
  • Kid Nation is already averaging lower than Jericho's season high.
  • The buzz for Jericho is still warm, waiting longer may cool it down.
  • NBC's October offering Phenomenon will not appeal to Bionic Woman fans anymore than Deal or no Deal.

Could the timing be more right? Chime in.
So what do you all think, will CBS take Kid Nation down?

Jericho Fans - DVD's For the Troops - Mention in BuddyTv

BuddyTv has an awesome article on the DVD For The Troops Effort -

What is the 'Jericho' DVD Project?

Fans may have saved Jericho, but the question of life after the 7-episode run still remains. After sending over 20 tons of nuts to CBS headquarters, fans are about to face yet another challenge in prolonging the post-apocalyptic drama series. In an attempt to put forth the same kind of energy and dedication for yet another cause, loyal supporters have decided to come up with the Jericho DVD project.

This is a great introduction to what the DVD for the Troops effort is all about, and why it exists. Please go to read the rest of the article and please take the time to go to jerichorangers4ourtroops to see what other efforts are being done. My most sincere thanks to Hawksdomain, Ahma, Scoo and Cristy for all thier dedication to this most wonderful project!

Also of note.....

There is a new direction being taken for the Staten Island Project Home Front Effort -

From MikesMom and KyStorms - ( this is also posted over at CBS Jericho Boards here)

Ok here’s the plan, every community has community organizations. One of these organizations is Rotary. In some areas of the country Rotary is not well known, in others, it is a community’s lifeline. One of our fans had the idea to introduce the Staten Island Project Homefront to her NY based Rotary Club as a potential project for the upcoming year. It took off like wildfire - They loved the idea of participating in this type of effort. Now discussions are in the works to take it district wide (about 50 clubs),
The same member then brought the idea to the local Chamber of Commerce and to the local VFW. This involvement led to a joint fund raiser to be held this fall to partially benefit the Staten Island Project Homefront to include the entire community donating items at the event towards the project.
In the works is getting the schools involved to have the children make donation boxes to leave in local businesses for the community to donate items requested in a Press Release. It has just grown in a few short weeks to an unbelievable level.
This is one town folks…can you imagine if this was done across the country. What did it cost the fan? Nothing! It all started with a simple question “How can we help?” So now the goal is to take this to a national level, but it would take time. We have the manpower sitting on the CBS boards to make this happen at an unprecedented speed.
Any fan that wants to get involved would be asked to do this: Mail a Letter.
Mail a letter to your local Rotary Club asking them to get involved. Tell us where you’re from and we’ll supply everything you need:
1) A template letter to send which will include the connection of Jericho, with the contact information of the club in your area.
2) The wish list of items from the Staten Island Homefront Project.
3) A One Page Flyer highlighting all the Jericho based projects for the troops, including the Wounded Warrior Project, DVD’s for The Troops and, of course, WATCH JERICHO!
Anyone who participates will get a Jericho Ranger Certificate of Appreciation.
Is this something you can do? Promote Jericho and Help The Troops for the price of a First Class Stamp? We think this will no doubt spark an interest in many potential new viewers to see “just what is this Jericho all about”.
If you are interested, please email your area information to wweotm@yahoo.com or post here, you will be emailed further information.

This is something we can all do, and it does two wonderful things, it helps Save Jericho for 3 seasons and beyond, and it helps our Servicemen and women who defend us day and night and who deserve our help! I wish to give my most heartfelt thanks to all who participate in this effort with us!

I also would like to congratulate Hawksdomain for being chosen as fan of the week , she is one energetic, devoted fan of Jericho and of the Troops, and my friend.
Hugs to you Hawksdomain
