What do all those File extenstions mean and what are the programs they are associated with?

What do you do when you run across a program file extension , for instance in an error or virus scan and you have no clue what program the extension is for? In the past you had to either surf the Internet in hopes of finding a website that wrote about the same extension or you had to call a Computer Professional to help you out.

Today you can check the website File Extension.com for all the different extensions there are as well as get the extensions program association and if you had errors associated with the extension you can find out how to fix the errors. This is a free online library database for extensions and it provides a huge service to the home computer user.

For example if you see a warning that states Windows cannot open a file extension ICO
you go to the page at File Extension.com and search ICO, it will bring up a page for this extension which will explain what the extension is used for ( icons ) as well as what to do with the error.
You can also use this site to search your computer for extension errors which will help you keep your computer clean and running smoothly.
