From JerichoJenny on the CBS Boards ~
If you were going to pack an emergency bag, in case you had to evacuate, what would you put in it? You might have to carry the bag for some distance so you don't want it to be too heavy. My answer ~ I would need a few bags actually. Water Purification tablets, any medications I would need, enough silverware for everyone to be able to eat with, a few good cutting knifes. Also a couple of books, how to care basically for injuries, how to cook and eat wild foods for the area I am in. After that warm clothes, especially socks and sweaters. A small tent for each persons bag in the family in case you are split up and need to hole up some where. A Jar of peanut butter, crackers, peanuts or nuts of some kind, packages of powered milk. Plastic bags filled with clean wash cloths, matches, batteries and flash lights.
That is all for now, but trust me the bags would be filled with all I could think of and carry.
