TV Vote - What Will Be The Aftermath Of Viewer Involvement

Have you been to Viewers With Voices yet? If your an active participant in what you watch on television I highly suggest checking the website for Viewers With Voices out.
Why? Because this is the starting point for anyone who wants the controls over television content to remain with the very people who television was made for, YOU the viewer!
Just read their statement:
ViewersWithVoices.com has chosen Independence Day as our day to go live to the general public. For those of you in the know, ViewersWithVoices.com is all about making our voices heard and doing anything and everything we can to change the antiquated Nielsen Ratings System. Co-partnered with our sister site, http://www.ViewersMatter.com, we hope to bring about change as to how the industry goes about determining what shows make it, and what shows don't. So, do you have a favorite show that was cancelled? Do you feel your voice is one of thousands, nay millions, that have not been heard? Not counted? Well then join us and be counted! Together, we can make a difference. Partnering with many fandoms such as Moonlight, Jericho, the 4400, Veronica Mars, and Dirt, just to name a few, our voices will carry and we will be heard. Today, Independence Day, we declare our independence from a system that fails to account for changing mediums, such as TiVo and DVRs, for a population that has far exceeded its initial scope of measuring, for a viewing audience who's opinions and tastes in entertainment have changed much since that of our parents, even grandparents. We demand change. A ratings revolution is about to take place and we want you to join with us and together we can make positive changes. Let us know how you feel about the Nielsen Ratings System. Tell us about how its influenced your TV viewing. We want to hear from you. We want your voice to count. We're waiting... Join the ratings revolution!
So, please go to Viewers With Voices and join the ratings revolution.
To go along with this topic, at the TV_Vote website it has been announced who has taken the top five spots in the vote for all time favorite show:
Firefly
Xena: Warrior Princess
Bonanza
Gunsmoke
Battlestar Galactica (2004)
While I am a tiny bit confused as to how my fellow Buffy fans let this happen ( to not be number one is one bitter pill to swallow, to not have made the top five, that is heartbreaking ) I am glad to see another show I love Firefly at number one. I am a new fan to the show, having gotten introduced last year on a marathon on the SciFi channel. See, this is the point I want to make - had that show actually been allowed to stick around for longer than a nanosecond (TV time that is) I would have been a loyal fan! Well, I would not have been counted, but I would have been watching the tv each time it was on! I not only never missed a Buffy, I watch in reruns (as I do with Angel) and I own the DVDs. It was awesome to see that in a years time we Jericho Fans did manage to get Jericho into the eighth spot in the list of all time favorites, great job Jericho Fans!

As far as tv exec's are concerned, do not fans such as myself count for far more money than these Nielsen Box Families?
Ah yes, the great Nielsen Debate, who will win? Hard to say right now, but as I am thinking of story of David and Goliath, I have to wonder who is our Goliath really?

Are we fighting just Nielsens antiquated sysytem that uses stunted technology or are there more than one "enemy" in this issue? Yes I said enemy, because if you want a revolution, you get a side to be on and that means an opposing opponent in a fight.

I can tell you personally, I am so tired of getting attached to a show, loving the show, waiting for the show to come on each week and having it taken down just because a company states there were not enought viewers. I really do not watch much tv anymore, due to this Jericho Campaign. I lost Buffy ( well, Buffy was different in that the cast felt it was time to move on if I am correct in my understanding of what occurred) I lost Angel ( ugggg) I lost Jericho, I lost Moonlight.

All shows I gave my precious time to, became emotionally involved in, and watch countless commercials on. What are the odds that I got attached to three shows, all of which did not perform as the nets desired in the ratings? I wish I had those odds when I play the lottery!
But back to the TV Vote.

Rich reports on his website - TV Vote - Official Power - Lets Talk About Fan Power that from 2001 when the vote began, until August 13th 2008 there were over 10 million votes placed! To read the rest of his report please go to TV_Vote Official Blog.

Our work is far from over fans, we need to regroup and continue on with this!
