Laptops And Other Electronic Gadgets Taken At Our Borders?

In the name of Security, Laptops and other electronic items such as PDA's, iPods and even your personal paperwork and books can and are being grabbed at the borders of the US, and no reasons for doing so are needed!
The only reason this has been brought out into public is because some people have insisted on the truth being told.
The very idea that the Gov can take a computer or other personal instrument
(and this applies to and is used on American Citizens, not just non Citizens) makes me feel like I now live in Communist Russia.
