We got a mention in the Ausiello Report - CBS Promises "Closure" for Jericho Fans

This is too sweet!!!

CBS Promises "Closure" for Jericho Fans

Jericho fans are proving to be da bomb at marshalling their resources.

The monstrous public outcry surrounding the show's cancelation prompted CBS' entertainment president Nina Tassler to take the unusual step of posting the following message at CBS.com over the weekend...

To the fans of Jericho:

We have read your emails over the past few days and have been touched by the depth and passion with which you have expressed your disappointment. Please know that canceling a television series is a very difficult decision. Hundreds of people at the Network, the production company and the incredibly-talented creative team worked very hard to build and serve the community for this show -- both on-air and online. It is a show we loved too.

Thank you for supporting Jericho with such passion. We truly appreciate the commitment you made to the series and we are humbled by your disappointment. In the coming weeks, we hope to develop a way to provide closure to the compelling drama that was the Jericho story.

Sincerely,

Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment

OK, Jericho fans, how would you like your closure served? In the form of a TV movie? A miniseries? A 300-word essay from producers? An Off Broadway show? Post your ideas in the comments section below. Clearly, CBS is paying attention.

Now Nielsen Families are coming out in support of our Efforts to save Jericho

At the Jericho forums, a Nielsen Family has posted their television habits before and now after Jericho has been killed off and the family is NOT pleased. The post is inspiring to those of us who are fighting this war, because it shows us we are in fact effecting much more than we knew at first:

" I've been lurking, watching, waiting, but doing my part behind the scenes...

You see I (we) are a current Nielsen Family (set top meter) and will be for at least another 8 months, and I can honestly say that our family viewership of CBS (KMOV) here in St. Louis, has declined greatly, from I would say 12 - 15 hours a week down to 1 - 2 (can't get the wife to not watch Ghost Whisperer unfortunately) since you cancelled Jericho.

Which means that you have, from my protest alone, lost (from what I was told) 80,000 +/- Nielsen viewers. This will stop once Jericho is renewed."
The poster goes on to explain which shows had been being watched before the cancellation of Jericho and which ones will not be watched anymore by that household. My husband was not too happy to hear that we will be canceling Show time until this is resolved ( he loves Weeds) but I explained to him that this is war, and war is hell.

And before I end this, I had started thinking about how this is a war of sorts, and the WWII story line, and so went looking for some worthy quotes from WWII to use as inspiration -

"Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy (CBS) is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely"
General Dwight Eisenhower - 6th June 1944.

”In case opportunity for destruction of a major portion of the enemy fleet ( CBS ) is offered, or can be created, such destruction becomes the primary task.”
Admiral Chester Nimitz -

Oh this is fun, but I am off to do some posting about some other things, more if I can find them later.

Ohh...to be a fly on the walls of CBS come Tuesday

Greetings to all my new readers, I am glad to see your coming, and don't forget to go to all the other blogs listed, right now, this is not about whose blog is bigger, its all about saving Jericho!

I am in an especially evil yet gleeful mood, come Tuesday all those NUTS will begin arriving along with thousands of letters sent by all of the dedicated fans from around the world.

I have read posts on the forum from folks in the US ARMY, from Australia, Singapore and England. I have had visitors here from Germany, Italy, Australia, and even most interesting from Washington DC! That means the word is getting out folks

The search term "save jericho" on google now registers Results 1 - 10 of about 35,300 for "Save Jericho". (0.06 seconds) !!!!

You know I don't recall many stories hitting google so hard like that, the Anna stories not being counted here.

The petition at 7:25 pm now sits at 57,226 signatures AWESOME!! For sure we will see 60,000 by tomorrow.
I only wish I could find the total of names that were involved with some of the other well known fights for TV shows to be brought back.

I am happily thinking about how Ms Tassler's stupid comments that are now being made public record from 2006 are going to go down with the CBS Powers that be on Tuesday as well. Can you imagine how she will explain herself, because no matter what, CBS has gotten some bad press over this now, and it has to be making folks wonder about us in HQ.

She showed such disdain for the fans, and I hold her personally responsible for this whole thing, as her comments are evidence of a lack of understanding and a lack of respect for the viewer, the show, the crews and the actors.

I think there are a ton of talented people on the forums alone who could handle her job, and make it produce far better results for CBS.

Will CBS Find Closure For 'Jericho'?

Network puts out an official statement saying that after being deluged with phone call, mail and even nuts from the "Nuts To You, CBS" campaign, CBS is looking at ways to provide closure for the series.

to make me feel better......a video

I dont recall if I already posted this youtube video, but even if I did, here it is again, for you new readers :-)

Caution - sad moment ahead!

Who is your favorite character from Jericho? Mine is Stanley

Yes, you see my words up there correctly, and you know what? I cant be the only one either.
Now dont get me wrong, Skeet is adorable, and he plays a great character. Jericho is what it is because of Jake, however..... that Stanley is something else.

And, he and Mimi together are just the most, they are so sweet.

Now, I got a real treat when I was at the forums a second ago, I found a letter there from Brad Beyer who plays Stanley. What a treat, but scary too. It almost sounds like he knows its over and this is the fact.

I am so angry at you CBS, you know what you did? You never gave us one chance to say good bye, matter of fact, like a cheating lover you left us with no one hint of what was really going on.

I can come up with other wonderful nasty things to say here, but the real reason I am posting a second time in so many minutes is that I just had to say how wonderful those from Jericho who have come and left messages , are.

Here is the link to his message, I wish I could have been on when he was on, that would have been so neat.
And here is his message , in case those jackalopes at CBS decide to pull that message down.

To all the fans and supporters of Jericho,

Hello everybody this is Brad Beyer I play Stanley Richmond, I just wanted to thank everybody for all of your love and support for the show. Making this program has been the best experience in my career thus far and I'm deeply saddened by its end. I will truly hold this expereience close to my heart for years to come. I just want you all to know how much the whole cast and crew appreciate your incredible support , We love you all!

Best always,

Stanley Richmond (Brad Beyer)

To all the actors and everyone on Jericho, I hope you know how much we all love you and that show. I hope you want us to keep fighting for you.

another wacky thought of mine about saving Jericho

Okay, this is probably going to sound kind of well, NUTS ( cant help it) but I am thinking of emailing the NRA for support in this.
The reason behind my thinking is this

THIS is the only show ever to show us defending ourselves. It was all about making us think about the scary, in other words, we had to sit and talk about the what ifs....

what if this happened , what would we do?

I know for sure that the show never meant to be a proponent of guns, but the matter of the fact is being able to have GUNS is part of the reason these people would be successful in surviving this in the first place.

So, I will let you know if I hear anything, they might not want to be involved but it sure is worth a chance, right?

I wanted to post this video again, for any new folks coming here. One watch here on my blog will absolutely make you feel the need to do something, anything. This video is my all time favorite out of all the amazing videos being done, nothing to down the others but this one just strikes a cord in me for some reason.

NUTS TO YOU CBS, and everyone is right, you DO SUCK

Save Jericho - more news from the front

Seems we are getting a bit more attention, on google under the search term "save jericho", the returns now sit at

Results 1 - 10 of about 32,000 for "Save Jericho". (0.06 seconds)

That my friends is up from 29,200 at just after midnight last night!
And here is a link to a report at Screenrant.com speaking about Jericho:

So instead of addressing the problem with the way they broadcast the shows, they blame viewers and move onto the next load of crapola to send our way. The replacement show for Jericho is Kid Nation:

"A reality-based series in which 40 kids will have 40 days to build a new world — in a ghost town that died in the 19th Century. These kids, ages 8-15, will spend more than a month without their parents or modern comforts in Bonanza City, N.M., attempting to do what their forefathers could not — build a town that works."

I'll be sure to tune into that... NOT.

It turns out the only show I even watched on CBS was Jericho. Now that that's gone, I won't be tuning into anything else on that network. I was actually thinking of checking out their new Aardman Animation-created show Creature Comforts, but now I won't just as a matter of principle.

If you're reading this execs, get a clue as to why people won't tune into shows that require a commitment in the future: If viewers think you might just pull the plug in the middle of an ongoing and compelling storyline, people won't tune in in the first place.

Who needs that aggravation? I sure don't.

Thanks for nothing.

Seems that as more people begin to hear about Jericho being canceled and our fight over at the forums, blogs and websites that word is getting out on what a colossal mistake this is for CBS.

I think "someone" needs to lose her job, if anyone is asking me.

In other places -

Last night on the forum, someone was kind enough to post a link to a report done in 2006 on Media Villiage.com, and it is amazing how similar the comments made in this report are to the comments made by Ms Tassler to the forums in the Official CBS comment to the fans, read on and see what I mean :

Tassler was responding to a question about the wave of new serialized dramas coming this fall on every network. They include Jericho on CBS, Kidnapped on NBC, Vanished on Fox, Runaways on The CW and The Nine and Six Degrees on ABC. Her comment seemed to rock the room, if only because the message from CBS imparted by executives in TCA press conferences during the last few years has been that viewers seem to prefer closed-ended series such as CSI, Cold Case, Without a Trace, Numb3rs, NCIS and Ghost Whisperer over serialized shows.

Critics weren't buying Tassler's surprise assertion that format doesn't matter. "You're saying that the people who watched Fox' Reunion last fall didn't care that they never found out who the murderer was, that it was not important to them?" one ruffled TCA member asked.

"I'm sure it was important to them, but the show unfortunately didn't continue," Tassler replied. "That show would still be on the air if the audience was there."

You could hear it around the room - the sound of critics quietly stammering, "but, but, but …"

And then one critic commented, "It wasn't so long ago that you guys were saying the reason why all the CSIs were so successful was the fact that people knew they were going to get a payoff at the end of the hour."

"That's CSI," Tassler noted. "That's not Jericho."

Heads were spinning, but Tassler continued to back up her argument.

"When writers come in and pitch a show, really, they are telling you a story," she explained. "At that point, you're discussing how the show is going to play out. And they say, 'This is a serialized show.' It's about the writer, the writer's vision. How does he best feel the story is serviced? It is really, first and foremost, 'What is the story you're telling and what best facilitates communicating that story to the audience? That's it!"

The greater issue, one critic accurately declared, is that while a number of serialized series in recent years have failed - including Fox' John Doe and Reunion, NBC's Surface and Heist, ABC's Invasion and CBS' Threshold - there were a number of people who loved those individual shows, even if their numbers weren't strong enough to keep them on the air. "To put it succinctly, you're pissing off people, like two or three million at a time," by canceling such shows without providing narrative closure, the critic said. Can you continue to do that, he wondered, and not ultimately alienate so many fans of serialized shows that "it really hurts you"?

"That's a very legitimate question," Tassler admitted. "No programmer wants to piss off their audience. When that happens it's unfortunate. [With] the many different changes that are happening in multi-platform there may be opportunities to provide resolution for audiences in other platforms on shows that don't continue on broadcast. I completely respect the question, and we respect our audience. When you build that kind of loyalty and you have an audience with legitimate questions about resolution it behooves us to find a way to provide those answers."

What I noticed right off was the exact comments made by Tassler in this report as she has made this year for Jericho. As a matter of fact, I think she may have read this the night before, and like the unoriginal shows on CBS ( with the huge exception of Jericho of course) Ms Tassler;s comments are also rehash.

I think I am going to copy this and send it as a fax to Ms Tasslers Office, the office of Les Moonves and the Board of Directors come Monday, I think they all need to discuss Ms Tasslers lack of commitment to the company, the fans and her profession. To not even think of new comments, or is it that she is incapable of original thought?

There is new videos over at Youtube as well, which I will be linking to here in a bit. Tried to get the automatic linking to work, but none showed up here, so I will just have to keep hand embedding them, not a problem.

be back later Jericho Fans
